The word that should come to mind when you think of Lent is… “Intentionality”
Today Pastor Jimmy continues his sermon series for Lent with a question, "What is your, “Mission Statement?” A question asked of organizations around the world, but do we as individuals, as Disciples of Christ need one? And if we do, what should it be?
A mission statement is defined as an action-based statement that declares the purpose of an organization and how they serve their customers. A mission statement is a short summary of your purpose.

The word that should come to mind when you think of Lent is… “Intentionality”
Today Pastor Jimmy began his sermon series for Lent with an introduction to the difference between being a Christian and being a Disciple. The first followers of Jesus didn’t call themselves Christians. It was a derogatory term used by people outside of the faith. In Acts 11:26, we see that the first Christians were known as disciples.
The word Christian is used three times in the whole Bible; the word disciple is used 281 times. A Disciple is a far more accurate and compelling description of what it means to follow Jesus.
Today we’ll see, the concept of a disciple exposes the fact that many who claim to be Christians are not actually disciples of Jesus.

Lent is a period of fasting, moderation,
and self-denial traditionally observed
by Catholics and some
Protestants.
It begins with Ash Wednesday and
ends with Easter Sunday. In Pastor Jimmy's message, he teaches on the purpose of Lent and how we can utilize this season for spiritual growth if God leads you to participate in it.
